Severin*s – The Alpine Retreat in Lech unveils its plans for the 20/21 winter season

by Lulu Sheard

Undeterred by Covid19, bookings for Severin*s’ winter season are coming in thick and fast, with New Year 2020/21 nearly fully booked.

Severin*s – The Alpine Retreat, is a luxury boutique ski hotel located on the outskirts of the Alpine town of Lech – around one hour’s drive from Zurich and 90 minutes from Innsbruck.

Perched on the ski slopes, guests can enjoy panoramic views over the Alpine landscape from the hotel which is built from traditional elements such as vintage Tyrolean timber and stone façade.

With just nine suites, the hotel also has comfy sitting rooms, open fires, bedrooms boasting huge en-suite bathrooms, wrap-around balconies, state-of-the-art sound systems, a basement pool, steam rooms and saunas, a private wine cellar and a 5* service.

There is also a fully serviced private residence for parties of up to eight people. There is a vast sitting room and dining area, modern kitchen, private cinema, a grand piano, and a spacious hot tub.

Foodie heaven

This year the hotel is planning new experiences for guests. For foodies, they can sample The Chef’s Table in the neighbouring village of Zug. A private taxi provides the transport to an old schoolhouse where diners will be treated to multiple fine-dining courses showcasing the very best of the region’s cuisine and produce.

Fondue by Skidoo

Severin*s’ guests are invited to book a skidoo to travel to a mountain hut where they can enjoy the best Austrian fondue on offer. Choose to cook beef, veal or king prawns in sizzling oil or in a ‘Chinese Broth’. Alternatively, indulge in a venison ‘Hunters’ fondue, or a traditional cheese, wine and cherry-brandy recipe. Everything is served with salads, potatoes and side dishes that transform simple fondue into feast. View the Älpele menu here.

Your stay at Severin*s can be booked to coincide with some of the winter season’s highlights in the area:

Lech Food Festival: 4-6 December 2020

A weekend of activities where hotels and restaurants showcase the area’s best produce – from local cheeses and traditional regional wines to modern flavoured gin. Severin*s’ guests can take part in a wide range of complimentary tastings on a mouth-watering tour of the town’s gastronomic highlights.

Disco’ Gondolas: 4-5 December 2020

For one weekend the Rüfikopf cable cars are transformed into disco gondolas where internationally renowned DJs provide the atmosphere.

Using the snow-covered mountains as blank canvases, light artists paint the slope in a variety of motifs and colours using large projectors. In the restaurants, the mountain stations and the Kästle Museum, DJs and other artists perform across open-air stages.

The White Ring Race: 16 January 2021

Starting in Lech, each year 1,000 skiers battle a 22km route through Zurs, Zug and Oberlech. Severin*s can secure a place at the start line for any keen-skiing guests.

Lech am Arlburg Music Festival: 4-18 April 2021

During the Tanzcafé Arlberg Music Festival the entire village is transformed into an all-encompassing dance hall as musicians from all over the world come to the Alberg. For two weeks, live music spills out over the slopes, ranging from swing jazz and big band to pop, funk, R&B, urban brass and electro beats.

Lech ‘Wine in the Gondola’ Festival: 16 April 2021

Guests are introduced to some of Austria’s finest vintners. After spending the morning on the slopes, the afternoon is filled by tasting individually selected Austrian wines in the gondolas of the Auenfeldjet.
