After a day on the slopes, there’s still plenty on offer in Aspen Snowmass

Aspen Snowmass in Colorado, USA, is offering a host of activities for skiers and snowboarders after a day on the slopes. These range from adventure to cultural experiences and traditional après ski.

Snowmass has a 54-feet rock climbing wall at Limelight Hotel. This is the tallest indoor climbing wall in Colorado and includes three lanes for simultaneous climbing. For each 30-minute session, climbing shoes and harness, as well as guided supervision, are included.

Elk Camp is an adventure centre with tubing, the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster and winter celebrations during Ullr Nights. In honour of the Norse God of Snow, Elk Camp turns into a snowglobe-like wonderland during Ullr Nights with a pass (£52) that includes a gondola ride to Elk Camp, bonfire, unlimited access to tubing, unlimited access to the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, fire dancers show, kids’ snow bikes and kids’ tubing.

During the ski season, the centrepiece of the Snowmass Base Village plaza is an outdoor ice rink, with free skate rentals, located in front of Limelight Hotel. After an ice-skating session an après snack, drink or dinner are available at the Limelight Lounge.

Enjoy a private wine tasting at The Little Nell. The hotel’s wine cellar stores more than 20,000 bottles.

For a more sedate offering, there is private wine tasting at The Little Nell. The hotel’s wine cellar holds a 20,000+ bottle selection, including some of the world’s most sought-after wines. The tasting is accompanied by a selection of house-cured meats and local cheeses. Each person will have a dedicated sommelier who will conduct a consultation prior to the tasting.

A relaxing experience is offered at The Spa at Viceroy with a variety of treatments inspired by ancient Ute, Nordic and Asian ceremonies. One of which is the Ute Sun Dance Ritual—a ceremony rooted in the idea of tagu-wini, which embodies the ideas of spiritual rejuvenation with hot salt soaks, clay wraps and oil treatments designed to rejuvenate the body and mind.

Aspen Snowmass is known for having one of the best après ski scenes in North America. Some of the highlights are Lynn Britt Cabin; Aspen Mountain, Sundeck – Aspen’s oldest après spot that opened in 1946; Aspen Highlands, Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro, which provides a backdrop of the iconic snow-covered Maroon Bells and champagne parties; and Buttermilk, Cliffhouse for a pint overlooking beautiful scenery.

The Wheeler Opera House hosts concerts, stand-up comedy, film festivals and other events.

Culture lovers are catered for with the Wheeler Opera House, built in the 1890s by Willoughby J. Edbrooke. It hosts concerts, stand-up comedy, film festivals and other events. In recent years, the Wheeler has been a leader in producing festivals such as the Aspen Laugh Festival, Aspen Mountain Film Festival, and Shining Mountains Film Festival, celebrating comedy, global issues and songwriting.

Aspen Art Museum exhibits some of the newest and most important artworks. The museum features exhibitions, educational programmes, immersive activities and community events. Also available are artist talks, screenings and performances with free admission.
