A unique destination offering stunning scenery, a relaxed atmosphere and the chance to spend quality time with family and friends, creating memories to last a lifetime… that is what you will find on a winter holiday the Austrian way.

The ideal location for both a tranquil getaway and skier’s adventure, start your day at the summit of a mountain, setting off and making your first turns across freshly-prepared slopes as if you were the first to discover this spot. Wonder at the views down the valley and across the mountain panoramas, offering a stark contrast to the high risers you might normally be viewing at that time of a morning.

Next up, make a pitstop for a late breakfast at a traditional mountain hut while finalising plans for later to enjoy Tyrolean Gröstl and Kaiserschmarren on a sun terrace with your family or friends.

Then after a day’s skiing, head back to what will feel like your home-from-home and enjoy some mulled wine by a crackling fire, or treat yourself to time in the spa. After all this you will have truly experienced a winter holiday the Austrian way.

And this season there’s even more to enjoy in Austria, here are just a few highlights…

The Arlberg region in Tirol is home to five legendary holiday spots – St. Anton, Lech, Zürs, St. Christoph, and Stuben. The region is one of the snowiest of the Alps, the largest connected ski area in Austria (more than 300km of marked ski runs and 87 lifts) and one of the top five worldwide. New for this season you will find a eight-person gondola lift in Stuben (Albonabahn I) and modern snow-making facilities in Schröcken.

St. Johann in Tirol and its neighbouring villages Oberndorf, Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf are located right in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. New in 2023/24 here is the Dynafit Skitourenpark for ski touring fans, with some trails also accessible in the evening.

SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental is one of the largest, most modern, and sustainable ski resorts in the world. Featuring 270km of groomed slopes and 20 valley descents, it has been powered by 100% green electricity for more than 20 years and has had one of the first solar-powered lifts in Austria since 2008. New for 2023/24 is the sign-posted SkiWelt Tour taking skiers and snowboarders around the whole region without having to take a single lift twice.

SkiJuwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau ranks among the most child-friendly ski resorts in Tirol. Skiers and snowboarders can look forward to 113km of slopes (with plenty of options for all skill levels), 45 lifts, 10 ski schools and snow parks. Special adventures include early morning and night skiing.

One of the largest linked, cross-border ski areas in the Alps, Ischgl and its neighbouring resorts Galtür, Kapp, and See give holidaymakers the full Alpine luxury experience. The resort features 364km of snow-sure slopes (up until early May), 45 state-of-the-art gondolas and chairlifts, and thrilling off-piste freeriding.

Zell am See-Kaprun is SalzburgerLand’s only glacier ski resort, ensuring skiing fun up until May thanks to the Kitzsteinhorn. Winter sports enthusiasts await fun slopes for all ages, thrilling snow parks and freeride options. The Ski ALPINE CARD connects three resorts and gives guests access to 408km of slopes, including one of the world’s largest fun pistes on the Schmittenhöhe.

St. Johann in Salzburg makes an ideal destination for a family snow holiday. Guests can enjoy skiing like back in the day, including at the Hahnbaum family area, where children and newbies of all ages will master their first turns at the platter lift free of charge. A highlight for families is the SoKiWo St. Johann Kids Week, a fun-packed adventure programme on and off the piste.
