A new eco-friendly ‘pay-as-you-go’ lift pass that the manufacturers claim will save skiers and snowboarders money, time and hassle, has been endorsed by former British ski racer and Olympian Chemmy Alcott (on the right of this photo).
Alto.Ski is making the new kind of pass out of wood and say they can be kept and used for every trip to the mountains which will reduce plastic waste.
The Alto.Ski app offers other benefits through partnerships including ski and snowboard rental with Skiset, and ski insurance.
Chemmy, who is Britain’s most successful female downhill racer, said: “I’m so excited to get on board with Alto.Ski. I feel it’s the future of lift passes. When the world is moving at such a crazy pace and we are working so hard, we have seen a rise of the spontaneous traveller. They don’t want to faff around with lift queues and logistics.”
The lift pass is already being used in resorts with more being added all the time. Chemmy compared it to a London Oyster card, adding: “I think Alto.Ski is an incredible innovation. It’s going to make life easier, so we can spend more time on the slopes and less time on the computer”.
Skiers and snowboarders can download the Alto.Ski app and order an Alto.Ski card by providing payment details. The Alto.Ski card will be sent in the post, QR code scanned by the user and it’s ready to use. Once registered, skiers and snowboarders can use all the functions available.
