Charlotte Bankes on the winner’s podium in Cortina.
In her first World Cup competitions since the Bakuriani World Championships in Georgia, (see results below) Charlotte Bankes sealed brilliant back-to-back World Cup gold medals by winning the Sierra Nevada Snowboard Cross World Cup.
The win took her to top spot of the 2023 Snowboard Cross Cup Standings, with 478 points to French racer Chloe Trespeuch’s 460.
Bankes also added to her winner’s medal tally when she took a team gold with Huw Nightingale in Sierra Nevada.
The duo beat the Austrian and French teams into silver and bronze, having earlier overcome the USA, Switzerland and France’s second team in the semi-finals draw.
The result marks the first time that Britain has taken a World Championships Team Snowboard Cross podium since the discipline was introduced at the Sierra Nevada World Championships in 2017
Another podium spot for Zoe Atkin, this time in Mammoth.
In the previous World Cup competition held in Cortina d’Ampezzo during January, Bankes recorded her second victory of the season with a dominant display of Snowboard Cross racing. The result was her first World Cup win in Cortina.
Elsewhere, British skiers Kirsty Muir and Zoe Atkin were both on the podium at the Mammoth Mountain Freestyle World Cup. In the Freeski Slopestyle competition, Muir took second place, just two points behind victor Johanne Killi.
It continues a run of form which has seen Muir finish inside the top-eight in seven consecutive World Cup competitions, dating back to March 2021.

In Freeski Halfpipe, Zoe Atkin’s achieved her the third World Cup podium of her career and joined Muir in taking second place in her first World Cup competition of the season.
Atkin’s huge score of 92.75 was only just beaten by the winner, China’s Kexin Zhang who finished with 93.50.
On the Europa Cup circuit, Ash Clayton took second place in Big Air and third place in Slopestyle at La Clusaz EC.
More success for Britain’s skiers and snowboarders
Britain’s ski and snowboard athletes returned from the 2023 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Bakuriani, Georgia, with two World Championship titles and a silver medal to deliver Britain’s most successful World Championships of all time.

Para Snowboard squad claim four overall World Cup titles
Britain’s Para Snowboard squad closed out the World Cup season with four overall titles.
James Barnes-Miller led the way with double Crystal Globes in SBX and overall, with Ollie Hill taking the Banked Slalom Crystal Globe, and Nina Sparks taking the Europa Cup overall title (see picture).
Barnes-Miller’s four victories and two runner up spots was enough to leave him comfortably at the top of the Men’s UL standings, while in Banked Slalom Ollie Hill just held off competition from Italy’s Emanuel Perathoner in a season that gave him two podium places in Landgraaf.
Nina Sparks’ dominance of the Europa Cup LL2 category was marked with a stunning run of four Snowboard Cross victories in a row, bookended with runner up spots in Banked Slalom and SBX in San Pellegrino and Pyha.
