Revelstoke Mountain Resort in British Columbia is celebrating the end of the winter season by hosting the Revy Beer Festival. Skiers and snowboarders are often rewarded with great conditions at this time of year as Revelstoke is famous for its overnight snowstorms that occur well into April, making the area ideal for spring skiing.
The Festival, held on the mountain at the Revelation Lodge, is on Friday 31 March and Saturday 1 April and features a large selection of craft beers and spirits. The entry fee of $29.99 per person per day includes a commemorative sample mug.
Doors open on Friday at 6pm until 10pm; Saturday at noon for the afternoon session until 4pm, with the evening session kicking off at 5pm, closing at 9pm. Access is via a groomed snowpath, a 200m walk from the top of the gondola.
Several hotels are offering special deals around the Festival dates. The Sutton Place Hotel has a 40% discounted room rate starting at $292. Situated in the centre of town, the ski-in, ski-out Sandman Hotel has a Festival Preferred Rate, plus a free shuttle to the Revy Beer Fest with prices starting at £139. There is also a discount on pre-booked lift tickets.
Another popular spring event is the annual King and Queen of the Mountain competition being held this season on 13-19 March. It is a mix of freeride and freestyle. Day 1 is held on a hand-built freeride venue under the Stoke chair and the second day continues in the Terrain Park on a custom Slopestyle course. The highest combined scores determine The King and Queen and there are prizes for the top three in all four categories.
