Taking a look at what’s new, Ski Beat, the UK’s largest ski chalet holiday company to France, has come up with some of the top ski holiday ideas for this winter.
One ski holiday, two ski countries
With panoramic views of Mont Blanc and Montarosa, the lesser-known French resort of La Rosiere – high on the French/Italian border – offers the enviable chance to wake up in France, and ski into Italy for a traditional pizza or pasta lunch. La Rosiere has plenty of skiing for all abilities, with 160km of pistes, over 80 runs, 70% of which are above 2000m, an excellent snow record, uncrowded pistes and the chance to ski two countries in one holiday.
Departing on 13 December 2025, a week’s stay at the stylish Chalet Perdrix in La Rosiere, costs £870 per person with chalet specialist Ski Beat based on two sharing, including return flights from Gatwick or Manchester, transfers, breakfast, afternoon tea and three-course evening meals (with wine), prepared by friendly chalet hosts.
La Plagne – new Roche de Mio Gondola
Already a perennial favourite with British skiers, La Plagne’s vast linked ski area – one of the world’s largest – just got even better with the opening of a brand-new gondola in December 2025, connecting Plagne Bellecôte via the Col de Forcle mid-station to Roche de Mio, at 2739m. The new lift will give skiers greater mobility around the mountains, with 168 continuous gondolas, whisking 3140 skiers per hour, at heights of up to 37 metres.
A 7 night ski holiday at Ski Beat’s Grand Chalet Chardon in Plagne 1800 costs from £902pp this winter, including a host to prepare breakfast, afternoon tea and three-course evening meals with wine, return flights from Gatwick or Manchester, and transfers.
Les Arcs – new Plan des Violettes Gondola
Not only does Les Arcs’ new, 40-cabin, high-speed Plan des Violettes gondola (opening December 2025) cut ascent time to the summit of Plan des Violettes (2,119m) by 10 minutes, but the replacement of the old chairlift system has enabled the reforestation of more than 3,000 trees, the creation of a wetland to preserve local biodiversity and the abandonment of tracks to reduce the impact on natural environments. Les Arcs is part of the vast Paradiski ski area, linking Les Arc, Plan Peisey and La Plagne, to create 425km of skiing via the Vanoise Express cable car, providing exceptional skiing for all.
Stay in the 5* Auberge Jerome Residence in the heart of Arcs 1950 luxury ski resort, where a week’s stay in Ski Beat’s apartment style Chalet Alouette costs from £814pp this season, based on two sharing, and including a chalet host to prepare breakfast, afternoon tea and three-course evening meals with wine, return flights from Gatwick or Manchester, and transfers.
Start at the top and ski into spring – Europe’s highest ski resort
As the highest resort in Europe (2300m), Val Thorens is one of, if not the, most snow-sure resort in the Alps. With 99% of the ski area situated above 2000 metres, it offers excellent conditions, with an average snowfall of 547cm. Val Thorens is renowned for its exceptional snow quality, meticulously groomed runs and cutting-edge lift system, with an après-ski scene to rival the world’s best.
Val Thorens’ high altitude and north facing slopes make spring skiing a reality, with longer days, shorter lift queues and uncrowded slopes. Departing 18 April 2026, chalet specialist Ski Beat has a week’s stay in the highest apartment-style chalet in the French Alps, Chalet Ibex, for £795pp, based on two sharing and including a chalet host to prepare breakfast, afternoon tea and three-course evening meals with wine, return flights from Gatwick or Manchester, and transfers.
Forget Lapland – Santa Claus is coming to ski
The glitzy French ski resort of Val d’Isere celebrates the festive season in style, transforming the village centre with twinkling lights, lavish decorations, Christmas trees and a whole host of events and activities in the resort’s Christmas village, including concerts, markets and parades, leading up to the arrival of Santa Claus on his magic sleigh, accompanied by his elves – that is, when he is not shooshing down the 300km of marked pistes that make up the linked ski area.
Cosy up for Christmas in Ski Beat’s traditionally styled Chalet Cristal, a short walk from Val d’Isere centre, and opposite the La Daille telecabine, taking skiers to the top of Bellevarde (2800m) in minutes. Departing on 20 December 2025, the price of £1730pp, based on two sharing, includes a chalet host to prepare breakfast, afternoon tea and three-course evening meals with wine, a festive Christmas Day dinner, return flights from Gatwick or Manchester and transfers.
